This cosmopolitan and lively city is located at the beginning of a broad gulf occupied with ships and yachts all year long. Izmir is the third largest city with the second largest port in Turkey and it is popular for shopping. In the winding alleys of the markets next to Kemeraltı, one can find fascinating antique pieces and a rich assortment of clothing items in addition to dried figs and raisins, a specialty of Izmir. In the nearby restaurants, local seafood specialties such as "Tranca" and "Çipura" are served. Always a lively, bustling atmosphere prevails around the Clock Tower at Konak Square, the centre of this historic port city. Izmir offers its visitors numerous and incomparable opportunities. Its Mediterranean climate, geographical location, natural resources and historical cultural heritage... All these reasons are enough to choose İzmir as a holiday destination.
